Thorough assessment and treatment of skin cancer and precancerous lesions
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in Denmark and often arises as a result of many years of sun exposure. Most types develop slowly and can be treated effectively if detected early. At CPH Privathospital you are examined by experienced dermatologists who have extensive expertise in assessing both skin cancer and precancerous lesions. We work calmly and systematically so that you receive a safe diagnostic workup and a treatment plan that suits your situation.
We offer diagnostic workup and treatment of:
- Basal cell carcinoma (basal cell cancers)
- Precancerous skin lesions (actinic keratoses and Bowen’s disease)
- Sun damage and suspicious skin changes
- Chronic wounds or areas that will not heal
These conditions can vary in appearance and require a precise assessment to find the right treatment.
How the examination is carried out
The dermatologist assesses the lesion thoroughly and often uses dermatoscopy to see the small structures in the skin that are not visible to the naked eye. If skin cancer is suspected we can take a small tissue sample (biopsy) to clarify the diagnosis.
You always receive clear information about the findings and what the next step should be.
Treatment
The treatment depends on the type of skin lesion, whether for example it is a precancerous lesion or skin cancer. The treatment may include:
- Medicinal creams/immunomodulating drugs
- Surgical removal under local anaesthesia including curettage of the skin or excision of the skin lesion
Precancerous skin lesions
Precancerous lesions often appear as dry, rough or scaly patches on sun-exposed areas such as the face, ears, hairline, chest and backs of the hands. They develop slowly – but without treatment they can in some cases progress to actual skin cancer. Early intervention gives the best results and prevents later problems.

Skin cancer can cause concern, but most cases can be treated effectively and gently. At CPH Privathospital you receive a pathway with high professional standards, short waiting times and plenty of time for questions.
