Patient pathway

For some, it can be reassuring to know in advance what to expect when entering CPH Privathospital. In our experience, you are spared many worries and surprises if you know beforehand what will happen and what your patient pathway looks like.

On this page we have described a patient pathway from start to finish – and we hope that this page can help create peace of mind and clarity about what will happen when you enter CPH Privathospital.

Consultation

When you arrive for a consultation at CPH Privathospital, please report to the reception, where we register your arrival so the doctor can see that you have arrived. In connection with registration, please bring your health insurance card. Prior to the consultation, you will receive a health information form by email, which you are asked to print, complete and bring to the doctor. If you do not have a printer, please arrive 5 minutes before the consultation and you will receive the form at reception.

Take a seat in our waiting area

After you have reported your arrival, please take a seat in our waiting area. You will find various newspapers, magazines and weeklies in our waiting area. You are welcome to use our wireless guest network; the code can be obtained at reception.

We always have coffee, tea and cold drinks available free of charge for both you and your relatives. If anything is missing, please let us know and we will refill immediately.

Meeting with the doctor

The consultation itself takes place with the doctor who will follow you throughout your entire pathway at CPH Privathospital. Often one of our nurses will perform some of your examinations together with the doctor. During the consultation the doctor will review your medical history and plan a treatment pathway. It will be the medical secretary who books examinations and operation, and we will plan the times together with you, so we are sure that it fits into your plans. At CPH Privathospital the patient is at the centre and it is important to us that you feel safe throughout your entire treatment pathway. You should therefore always feel free to ask questions if there is anything you are uncertain about or need answers to.

We will throughout the entire pathway ensure that you are informed about what will take place and what is going to happen.

Operation and admission

At CPH Privathospital the patient is at the centre and it is important to us that you feel safe throughout your entire treatment pathway. You should therefore always feel free to ask questions if there is anything you are uncertain about or need answers to. We will throughout the entire pathway ensure that you are informed about what will take place and what is going to happen.

On the day of operation you are asked to report your arrival at reception and subsequently take a seat in our waiting area. After that you will be collected by the nurse who will show you around and prepare you for operation.

When you are ready, the doctor comes and reviews the pathway with you and draws lines on your skin to mark where the procedure will take place. You will likewise meet our anaesthetist, who will inform you about the anaesthesia. After that you are accompanied into the operating theatre, where you meet our operating room staff and anaesthesia staff. You will lie down on the operating table and when you are ready, the anaesthetist will anaesthetise you and the operation starts thereafter.

After the operation you come into our recovery room, where a specially trained nurse observes you and measures your values until you are ready to be discharged or ready to go into your own ward room. You will be offered food and drink in recovery.

The doctor who has operated on you will come and see you before you are discharged. The doctor will carefully instruct you in the continued plan.

If you have questions about your planned operation, you are always welcome to contact us on tel. 7021 8000 or at info@cph-privathospital.dk

Meals and accommodation

We place great emphasis on good meals and accommodation and we therefore adapt the service to your individual operation pathway, wishes and needs. The kitchen can offer you service around the clock. If your operation is performed on an outpatient basis with discharge the same day, we offer you a sandwich, beverages and fresh fruit before you are discharged.

As an inpatient you always have the opportunity to be served coffee, tea, cold beverages, fresh fruit and small snacks. For main meals you can choose between a hot dish or open sandwiches, which vary from day to day.

If you have special requests, such as vegetarian dishes, dishes without pork, allergy, etc., you are welcome to contact us before your admission.

Your relatives are very welcome to be served coffee, tea or cold beverages free of charge.

Internet and telephony

It is permitted to use mobile phones at the hospital, also in the recovery room, but please be considerate of your fellow patients and their relatives.

We have a guest network throughout the hospital for our patients and relatives. By enquiring at our reception or with the nurse you can obtain the username and password for our wireless network.

You must please bring your own laptop computer for admission, as this is not provided.

Discharge

As an outpatient you will usually be discharged two to three hours after the operation. Before you go home you will receive information about medication, dressing, wound care, possible rehabilitation, permitted activities after the operation and time for follow-up.

We will call you the day after the operation to make sure that all is well and answer any questions you may have.

You will be given the telephone number of our emergency phone, should problems arise subsequently.

As an inpatient you will be discharged between 09.00 and 11.00 and it is important that you have considered your transport home and possibly arranged collection with your relatives. You will agree the exact time for discharge with the nurse.

Follow-up and aftercare

After your operation you will be offered one or more follow-up appointments (there will be some operations that do not require follow-up). It is important that you attend these appointments so that the doctor can examine whether everything is as it should be, and so we avoid any potential complications. The nurse or medical secretary will ensure that you are given an appointment for follow-up.

If you need follow-up treatment with a physiotherapist, we will ensure that you are referred to physiotherapy near your home. If you wish to continue your follow-up treatment at CPH Privathospital, we will ensure that you get an appointment with our physiotherapists.
If you are referred via your health insurance, we will ensure that we obtain approval for follow-up treatment.
