How the examination is conducted

During the consultation we review your symptoms, your medical history and any previous treatments. The dermatologist assesses the scalp thoroughly and examines the pattern, extent and signs of inflammation or irritation.

If necessary, the examination can be supplemented with samples from the skin or scalp, so we can determine whether there is, for example, infection, fungus or another cause of the symptoms.

Treatment

Treatment is planned according to severity and cause. It may consist of, among other things:

  • Medicated shampoos
  • Creams and solutions for the scalp
  • Tablet treatment for more pronounced disease
  • Treatment of infections if necessary
  • Advice on skin and hair care, so you avoid worsening

The goal is to create a scalp that feels calmer, less irritated and easier to keep in balance.

Acne and scars

If acne has left scars or uneven skin texture, we assess how it can best be treated. Some scars improve spontaneously when the acne is under control, while others require targeted treatment. We will discuss this with you when the acne has stabilised.
