Do you have a waiting time in the public system?
The extended free choice of hospital and right to rapid treatment. As a citizen of Denmark, you have the right to be examined within one month. If the waiting time for treatment exceeds 30 days, you have the right to choose treatment at CPH Privathospital.
CPH Privathospital has an agreement with Danish Regions, which means that you can be referred to us if you have to wait more than four weeks to be examined or more than 30 days for treatment at a public hospital.
The waiting time is calculated as 30 days from the date when the hospital in your region of residence receives a referral from your doctor until the date when treatment or examination can start.
If you have been offered a surgery date and the hospital changes it, you have the right to choose to have the operation performed at a private hospital – regardless of the extent of the postponement.
Please note that public hospitals are not obliged to inform you about the waiting time; in that case, you must contact the hospital or the patient adviser.

When can you be referred?
If you have been referred to a public hospital, you can be referred to CPH Privathospital A/S if:
- You have to wait more than 1 month for examination
- You have to wait more than 1 month for treatment
- Your surgery date is changed
However, it is a condition that we have an agreement with the Region regarding the treatment you may need.
