Throat discomfort

The throat is a sensitive area with rich nerve supply. It is an advantage to have good sensation in the throat if you are about to get a crumb stuck in your throat, so you can cough it away in time. Therefore, you also quickly notice if there is something else in the throat that feels different than it usually does.

Common causes of throat discomfort

It may be a viral or bacterial infection in the throat or possibly fungus. It may also be a blister or another sore, a cyst or a polyp. Finally, it may be that the throat is affected by something completely different, such as stomach acid or that you have throat discomfort because you are using medication that has throat discomfort as a possible side effect.

Treatment

You will receive a thorough outpatient examination of ears, nose, oral cavity and throat and will also be examined in the throat mucosa with an endoscopic examination (fibroscopy). Based on your symptoms and the conclusion of the examination, we will advise you on what can be done.
