Dizziness

Most of us will experience dizziness at some point in life. The symptom is normal and becomes increasingly common with age.

The dizziness can occur for a shorter or longer period and can vary from a slight swaying sensation underfoot to a debilitating and nauseating dizziness that creates insecurity and limits one’s daily life.

It is enormously complex because it can originate from the brain, the semicircular canal system and the otolith organs.

Research shows that in at least 50% of cases, dizziness is caused by a disorder in or around the inner ear. Here, the most common cause by far is loose otoliths (BPPV) in the semicircular canals and not a virus affecting the balance nerve, as people are most often told.
