At CPH Privathospital we work every day to improve our sustainability initiatives. We work according to our sustainability strategy, which is inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and provides an overall framework for the hospital’s contribution to the green transition.
Our sustainability strategy sets the framework for how the hospital works holistically and committedly with its contribution to the green transition.
The strategy contains 5 main goals, each supported by a number of concrete initiatives.
Climate Council
At CPH Privathospital we have a so-called climate council, which ensures that focus areas are prioritised and sustainability initiatives are developed and implemented. This takes place through at least four annual meetings of the climate council. The sustainability committee consists of green enthusiasts representing different professional groups at the hospital.
Selected areas for the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being
CPH Privathospital sees itself as an important player in the Danish healthcare system, where we treat all Danish patients from the public sector, health insurance and as self-paying patients. We contribute to public/private collaboration.
We place great emphasis on well-being in the workplace, including through joint social events, good working conditions and focus on work-life balance.
Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education
Competent and happy employees are a clear prerequisite for us to deliver a good patient journey for our patients. We want to be an extremely attractive workplace where all employees are heard and have opportunities for development. CPH Privathospital is a diverse workplace where there is room for differences. In addition, we focus on equality. We strive to have broad representation in various committees.
Sustainable Development Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
At CPH Privathospital we strive to have the best working conditions and a safe working environment for our employees, both physically and mentally. We actively prevent work injuries, illness and absence among employees. We use workplace risk assessments as a working tool to ensure employee well-being and thereby have the opportunity to improve conditions. Likewise, we expect our partners and suppliers to make the same demands in their organisation.
At CPH Privathospital we have employees in flex-job arrangements. We have employer-paid health insurance with rapid access to investigation and treatment of illness, both physical and mental disorders.
It is our conviction that good working conditions provide sustainable economic growth.
Sustainable Development Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production
CPH Privathospital focuses on resource consumption in procurement and is conscious of fulfilling our social responsibility in relation to CO2 emissions as a result of our activities.
- Procurement with consideration for the climate footprint when choosing items – awareness of the entire product life cycle
- Considers whether changes in approach and/or reuse of equipment etc. can meet the need
- Procurement is organised so that CO2 emissions from deliveries are minimised (e.g. by purchasing in larger batches)
- Uses manufacturers and suppliers who live up to their social responsibility (e.g. in relation to employees’ rights and working conditions, green profiles, absence of child labour, and compliance with human rights)
CPH Privathospital focuses on CO2 emissions and hospital operations and delivery of healthcare services often involve a transport need and are simultaneously associated with significant complexity when it comes to waste sorting and the need for cooling, ventilation, light, water and heating. The hospital focuses on how we can influence our climate footprint and limit our CO2 emissions.
- CO2 emissions are reduced by minimising energy consumption for heating, ventilation and cooling
- Personal transport is reduced, among other things, by using digital solutions such as video meetings/consultations
- Focus on reducing food waste, reducing the amount of dairy products and meat, and on buying local ingredients that are in season and have short transport distances
- Waste sorting is organised so that waste is handled according to local regulations
- Focus on maintaining water consumption of a more energy- and water-saving nature
Sustainable Development Goal 12 – Climate Action
CPH Privathospital must continuously revise strategies and policies for sustainability and CSR to ensure a sustainability mindset among both management and employees. It is important among employees that both large and small changes in daily behaviour and routines can contribute positively to sustainability.
CPH Privathospital will reduce CO2 emissions and contribute to reducing global warming.
Latest measures and sustainability initiatives at CPH Privathospital
- Elimination of paper and plastic cups: Our latest initiative is the elimination of the use of paper and plastic cups, which we unfortunately used in very large quantities on a monthly basis.
Instead, we have purchased an industrial dishwasher for this purpose, both to be able to keep up with the amount of washing up, but also to comply with hygiene requirements for particularly high temperatures when washing up. - Organisation of procurement: in 2023 we began consciously organising procurement so that CO2 emissions are kept to a minimum, e.g. by consolidating deliveries in larger batches. This can only happen, among other things, because we have a large storage area in our own building.
In addition, we also take further consideration of the actual resource consumption and environmental impact when we choose goods. When we assess the environmental impact, it is based on the entire product life cycle, and consideration has thus been given to both the consumption of raw material resources and the environmental impact during the product’s manufacture and subsequent disposal.
